(1989 art college) On the 9th floor, alone sitting on a mattress on the floor in a strange big city in a tiny small studio apartment with just a dresser. No cell phone and no computer.

I cried my eyes out after hearing gunshots outside in the grass area below, then a woman scream out. An ambulance then arrived, thankfully Allegheny hospital was right around the corner. Could art college be this scary? I just wanted to go home. I missed all of my great high school friends. Then Melissa my roommate that I never met until then arrived … and all was well. Art college in Pittsburgh was just what I needed. Only a 2-year degree. No car. Had to walk and take the bus everywhere in the city. I met a lot of really really wonderful creative people. So grateful for this experience in my life thanks to my mom and dad for paying for my college.
While things may seem tough in life, remember they do get better eventually.
