How do I gain real organic followers on instagram? A question I myself have and remain stumped on. But 2 things happened yesterday and I about fell over. My instagram was featured on 2 instagram accounts that have very large followings. My instagram then grew 470 followers in one day and is still growing this morning. All because of the free features.

All of my followers are real organic followers. I stopped following back due to the follow and drop game. I just don’t have time for this. I only follow a very small group of brands/people. I know if I followed all back, my following would grow much faster. But again, I don’t have time to do this. I rather paint and write articles like this in my spare time.
Here is Better Homes and Gardens instagram featuring my original floral artwork. I highly suggest you follow them. Their feed is full of inspiration and they are very generous with sharing others Instagram Photos.

I found being featured is the best way to get real organic instagram followers quickly. You want real followers who love your product and or feed. Because, let’s face it, fake followers do not pay your bills. A feature will lead the best group of followers to your feed.
The followers were commenting and making me blush. Many of them did hop over to my, Michelle Mospens Instagram and followed me. This is when you know you have made the correct connection.

First you want to ask yourself: Which hashtag would work best for me and my business? Thinking about what works for others is not an option. You have a unique gift, product, and craft. What works best for you? I can not stress this enough. What are you selling? Who are you selling to? Why would someone want to follow you? All of the answers will point to your one-of-a-kind hashtags.
Sure, there are many other artists, watercolorists, painters, fiber artists, photographers and crafters out there… but what is the most important what describes your personal style, and your handmade / detailed work. Keep this in mind when choosing hashtags.
This the 2nd feature of my art at A Beautiful Mess. Give them a follow if you love life, to be happy, find inspiration and adore color! I know I do!

Hashtags are very important to use if you want to gain organic real followers quickly. Here are a few of my favorite tags to get featured:
#ABMPlantLady (plant related)
#ABMCrafty (art, craft related)
#ABMLifeIsSweet (candy or sweet things)
#ABMHappyLife (life in general)
#ABMLifeIsColorful (super colorful)
#ABMTravelBug (for travel photos)
#ABMAtHome (for home decor)
You can find many more by searching your favorite instagram feeds. I will give you an example. Let’s say you make fiber art plant hangers. Then you more than likely already follow and love The Jungalow. Their hashtag to use for being featured is #thejungalow.
You can search the Instagram search tool to find the best fit for you.
Other tags I love to use are:
For fiber art, I would pay attention to Boho and home decor tags. Try:
#indie
#homepolish
#bohemianstyle
#bohemianhome

#myhousebeautiful

I think I covered How to Gain Real Instagram Followers today. I could go on and on as I am completely obsessed with Instagram. I will revisit this theme very soon with the best online classes to take and more!
Remember, algorithms and the structure of apps change constantly. Get busy and put these ideas to use today. Always stay on top of trends and changes in feeds to stay on top of your niche.
One more HUGE tip is don’t run after your competition and spam like and spam comment on their feeds. It does not look authentic. Because, well it is not. Instead, find people who love the same things you offer, who adore what you are creating and go spam them with LOVE. Like their content. Truly like their photos. That will result in a following you will be in love with. xo
UPDATE: In April 2017, Martha Stewart shared my art with her followers. I gained over 400+ followers in 1-2 days. Just from that one share. How did she find me? I used the hashtag #imsomartha. I found this tag, when Martha shared it on her post, she asked all to use it to be featured. No cost. And another free feature! How cool is that?

Have fun and remember to stay creative, work hard and be completely original!
Original post from 2017. Tips still work today!
